Here is the good news post!!!
Anyone that’s been around a hot minute knows that we have a pair that is super destructive and poorly litter trained.
Well I have everyone know, that Bella and Baxter have found THE PERFECT forever home.
I have always been transparent about bunny behaviors, personality, litter habits etc.
Always been honest about them being HEAVY chewers.
Everytime I dealt with them I would tell them “if you two don’t start behaving you won’t ever find a home. You will be stuck with us forever”
Needless to say they ignored me.
The Universe finally guided the perfect family our way. They drove 1.5 hours one way 3 days later to come meet them.
I mean so perfect I thought we were being punked.
The dad then worked tirelessly for the next week to make sure their set up was perfect. And is it ever.
Take a look at the pictures. The dad worked tirelessly for the week to make sure their enclosure was ready to go and predator proof. I mean check it out, there’s even vents for AC/Heating and a thermometer inside. They know they can’t be out in the heat and have everything set up for them to stay cool, safe and healthy.
Bella and Baxter needed an outside/inside home, this was one of the reasons I was worried they would not find the right home; and here this family just flew in with their angel wings. They insisted on getting a bonded pair that was in most need of finding a home.
Bella and Baxter have been with us for 2 years, after being seized from a hoarding, breeding, neglect case of a bunny rescue in another state. We pulled over 100 rabbits and dispersed them among several other rescues that were working with us on clearing out said rescue. Many rescues were involved in working the case, setting up transportation and contacting other rescues to see how many they can take in.
They are (at this time) too destructive and have poor to non existent litter habits. That may change, although the chewing probably won’t. I do know that the foster family that had them brushed Bella every single day. She is so used to being groomed and loves it. Which is a good thing considering she’s a lionhead/dutch mix. She almost looks like a double mane Lionhead.
The very next weekend they again drove 1.5 hours to come take them home.
I have never seen anyone as excited as the mom.
Baxter is absolutely chill and even nudged and booped all 3 family members. I thought he may get nervous with a younger, hyper boy around but nope… Baxter just claimed them all.
Even gave the boy some kisses.
I mean never in my life …
So perfect.
Now Bella… how many know that she most definitely has that Dutch/Lionhead attitude.and like to nip? Yes.
The dad picks her up and she doesn’t struggle, doesn’t growl or nip; and most amazingly… she immediately starts chomping. Actually she chomps so much and fast it’s more like “helicoptering”
She quite literally just melts into his arms.
And CLOSES HER EYES AND GOES TO SLEEP.
SHUT UP!!!
Poor mom though, I think Baxter is as big as she is
I have never been so amazed at the change of a bunny’s behavior as I have been by theirs.
These are most definitely their people.
Thank you to the Forte Family for choosing adoption. And I hope you know how honored you should be that this amazingly animated, overflowing with personality duo has chosen you
