FOSTERING

Help us Help them!

A great way to help support us here at Gauntt Farm Antics Rabbit Rescue, Inc. is to foster. Multiple times a week we receive message from people who need to surrender their own or who have found an abandoned rabbit. Local animal control and shelters are not equipped to care for rabbits and almost most certainly those dropped off with animal control will be euthanized.

Our space is limited and once we meet capacity we are unable to help by taking in any more rabbits. Utilizing fosters helps us eliviate this issue while continuing to take in bunnies that are being surrendered or found abandoned until a permanent furever home can be found for them.

While fostering, these rabbits are still considered to be under the care of our rescue which means that we will provide for all of their care while in foster care. Any help is always appreciated by our fosters if they can provide any essentials, however we are more than happy to furnish x-pens, cages, food, litter, litterboxes, bowls, bottles, etc. Veterinarian care is covered by GFARR, Inc through For Pet’s Sake in Decatur, Georgia.

Fostering also means that these rabbits will receive more one on one care, love and training than sometimes available in max capacity shelters; without worrying about the large financial burden that comes with exotic animals, like our domestic rabbits.

Here at Gauntt Farm Antics Rabbit Rescue, Inc. we follow guidelines established by House Rabbit and Georgia House Rabbit Society. You will find attachments and links referring back to either of them for fostering guidelines. Bunny 101 Booklet is a great source of information for anyone wanting to foster or adopt. Check it out!
